🕯️ Focus Questions in Session

When you sense a part but it’s still vague, focus questions help bring it into view. They’re invitations to slow down and notice more.

Start simple:

  • “Where do you feel it most clearly right now?”

  • “What’s it like there?”

  • “Would it be okay if we just stayed with it together for a moment?”

Then, as more emerges, stay curious:

  • “Is it moving or changing at all?”

  • “Does it seem close or far from you?”

  • “What happens when you give it your attention?”

  • “Does it like you focusing on it, or is that uncomfortable for it?”

If the mind rushes to analyze, you can gently return: “Let’s just see what it’s like to be with it directly.”

Focus questions aren’t about understanding the part’s story — not yet. They’re about building connection through presence. You’re saying with every word: I see you, I’m staying.

When a part realizes it doesn’t have to shout to be noticed, it softens. Focus becomes the doorway to the deeper work ahead.
