Al-Ḥamīd (ٱلْحَمِيدُ)
The Praiseworthy, The One Deserving of All Gratitude and Glory
Pronounced: al-ha-MEED Root: ح-م-د (Ḥ-M-D) — to praise, to glorify, to speak of with deep honor and thanks
Original Invocation (Arabic Calligraphy):ٱلْحَمِيدُ
Sacred Reflection
Al-Ḥamīd is not praised because He needs it.
He is praised because His nature moves the soul to rise in reverence.
He is not glory-hungry.
He is glory itself.
Beauty so complete that even silence feels like worship in His presence.
In Sufi knowing, Al-Ḥamīd is the echo that lives in every act of true gratitude.
The holy response of the heart when it touches something so good,
so loving,
so constant…
that it cannot help but praise.
He does not demand recognition.
He simply is the kind of presence that awakens it.
Al-Ḥamīd is the Name that meets you in moments of awe:
the breath held at a sunrise,
the tears that rise after a breakthrough,
the ache of “thank you” when you know you didn’t earn the grace you just received.
He is not just the One you thank.
He is the One who taught you how to thank.
Who etched reverence into your bones
so you would always know how to return to what is real.
Even your gratitude is a gift from Him.
Even your praise, planted by His own hand.
Parts Work Invitation
What part of you feels cut off from gratitude?
The one that says:
“There’s nothing to praise.”
“I don’t trust the good.”
“Everything beautiful disappears eventually…”
Let that part be gently approached by Al-Ḥamīd.
Let it hear:
You don’t have to fake reverence.
You don’t have to force gratitude.
Just let Me sit beside you,
and we will remember together.
Let it feel:
Praise does not mean pretending.
It means seeing clearly.
Even in pain.
Even in confusion.
Something in you knows:
He is still worthy.
Not because life has been easy.
But because His presence has been unshakable.
Let this part rest in the quiet knowing:
It is okay if praise feels far right now.
He will not leave you in silence.
He will stay…
until awe rises again.
Because Al-Ḥamīd does not require your worship.
He awakens it.
And when it returns,
it will not be performance.
It will be recognition.
And it will be real.
