Al-Ḥayy (ٱلْحَيُّ)

The Ever-Living, The Source of Life That Never Dies

Pronounced: al-ḤAYY Root: ح-ي-ي (Ḥ-Y-Y) — to live, to be alive, to remain ever-vibrant and aware

Original Invocation (Arabic Calligraphy):ٱلْحَيُّ

Sacred Reflection

Al-Ḥayy is not just the One who gives life.

He is Life.

The essence behind every heartbeat. The Presence that does not age, fade, weaken, or cease.

Every living thing you have ever known — every breath drawn, every tree trembling in spring, every child laughing in the light — all of it pulses from the eternal current of this Name.

But Al-Ḥayy is not only in what blooms.

He is the Life that remains when yours seems gone.

When you feel dead inside.

When the world goes dim.

When you are barely moving through the motions.

This Name still lives in you, unshaken.

In Sufi knowing, Al-Ḥayy is the invincible core.

The part of your soul that cannot die.

Even when your will dissolves.

Even when your fire is ash.

Even when your parts say, “I am too far gone.”

Al-Ḥayy whispers:

I am still here.

His Life is not borrowed.

It is not sustained by anything.

It sustains everything.

And He places that indestructible essence within you — not as a reward, but as your inheritance.

You are never truly lifeless.

Because you are never without Him.

Parts Work Invitation

What part of you feels like it has lost its spark?

The one that says:

“I’m numb.”

“I feel hollow.”

“There’s nothing left inside me worth saving.”

Let that part come near to Al-Ḥayy.

Let it hear:

“I am the Life inside your silence.

I do not depend on your mood, your effort, or your hope.

I am the flame that never went out.”

Let it feel:

Aliveness is not always loud.

Sometimes it flickers faintly beneath grief.

Sometimes it hides in your stillness.

But it is there.

Let this part rest in the knowing that:

Even when everything else dies — this Life does not.

Al-Ḥayy is the heartbeat beneath all despair.

The breath under every collapse.

The whisper in every void that says:

You are still Mine.

And I am still Alive — in you.
