Al-Mutaʿālī (ٱلْمُتَعَالِي) The Supremely Exalted, The One Beyond All Comparison, The High Above All Limit
Pronounced: al-Mu-ta-ʿĀ-lee Root: ع-ل-و (ʿ-L-W), to rise, to be high, to be elevated beyond reach or likeness.
Original Invocation (Arabic Calligraphy):ٱلْمُتَعَالِي
Sacred Reflection
Al-Mutaʿālī is not just High. He is beyond high.
Above concept.
Above grasp.
Above even the image of above.
He is not simply the highest among beings.
He is outside the scale.
He does not rise because others are beneath. He rises because nothing can contain Him.
In Sufi knowing, Al-Mutaʿālī is the Sublime Mystery.\
The horizon you can never reach.
The Vastness that cannot be held in thought or theology.
And yet. He is not aloof.
He is not distant.
His Exaltation is not a separation. It is a sanctification.
It is the reminder
that no matter how intimate your connection,
there is always more to Him
than you could ever touch.
This Name is the veil you cannot lift.
The radiance too holy to stare into.
The reminder that reverence is not fear. It is the trembling joy
of knowing He is too vast to ever be owned.
And still, He bows low to meet you.
Al-Mutaʿālī is the paradox:
The Untouchable who reaches for you.
The Incomparable who calls you friend.
Parts Work Invitation
What part of you feels unworthy to approach the Divine?
The one that says,
I’m too small to matter…”
“God is too big to care about me…”
“I must become better before I draw near…”
Let that part feel the presence of Al-Mutaʿālī.
Let it feel the sacred tremble of awe.
Not shame, not exile,but wonder.
Let it hear:
“Yes, I am beyond your reach.
And still, I choose to reach for you.”
Let this part know:
You don’t have to grasp the Infinite.
You only have to surrender to being held by it.
Let it rest in the knowing:
You were never meant to master the Divine.
You were meant to marvel.
To kneel not because you are worthless,
but because you are beloved
by the One who is beyond all naming.
Al-Mutaʿālī is not too far to love you.
He is too vast not to.
And that… is what makes you holy.
