Jaṯī saṯī kā kiā sār.
Nanak jin man bẖau ṯinā man bẖāo.
Khaṭ ḏarsan kai bujhai nāo.
Sabẖ kichẖ Nānak bāhar nāhi.
Je ko bujhai hovai saciār.
Straight Meaning (Sikh-accurate)
Guru Nanak teaches:
What is the real value of outward rituals of discipline or purity?
Nanak says: those whose hearts hold reverence naturally hold love.
One who understands the essence of all six philosophies grasps the true Name.
Everything is within the Divine; nothing lies outside it.
Whoever realizes this becomes aligned with Truth.
Sacred Commentary
Pauree 27 is a quiet, penetrating sweep through the illusions of spiritual performance.
Guru Nanak is not dismissing discipline or ritual, he is dissolving the idea that outward effort creates inner transformation.
He begins with a blunt question:
“What is the use of being outwardly disciplined or virtuous?”
Not because self-restraint is pointless,
but because it becomes hollow when disconnected from the heart.
Then comes the heart of the pauree:
Where there is true reverence (bhau), love naturally arises (bhao).
It cannot be forced.
It cannot be performed.
It cannot be faked.
Reverence is not fear.
It is that soft, trembling awareness of something greater holding you,
and from that awareness, love blooms effortlessly.
Nanak then steps into deep philosophical territory.
Understanding the essence of all six classical schools of thought still comes down to one truth:
All is within the Divine.
Nothing exists outside it.
This is not abstraction.
It is a shift in perception.
The seeker who grasps this,
who truly realizes that nothing is separate from the One,
steps into alignment with Truth itself.
IFS Lens
This pauree mirrors an essential IFS truth:
Spiritual performance does not heal parts, presence does.
Outward discipline cannot soothe a terrified exile.
Moral self-contortion cannot calm a hypervigilant protector.
Endless self-improvement cannot create inner love.
But when a part feels genuine Self-led reverence,
a quiet awe, a gentle respect, its fear softens.
Its grip loosens.
It begins to feel safe enough for love to arise.
“Everything is within the Divine” mirrors the inner landscape:
All parts belong.
None are outside the system.
None are mistakes.
None are excluded.
And when the system truly knows this,
that every part is welcome,
every part is held,
that is what it means to “become aligned with Truth.”
Trauma-Informed Practice (Curiosity Only)
As you sit with Pauree 27, gently explore:
Is there a part of me that feels pressure to “perform” spirituality or healing?
Is there a part that doubts the value of inner reverence?
What happens inside when I imagine that love arises naturally from feeling safe?
Is there a part that longs to belong, without earning it?
How does my system respond to the idea that nothing is outside the Divine, including my own parts?
Whatever comes, resistance, warmth, numbness, confusion, is welcome.
Your system moves at the pace of safety, not effort.
This is the practice.
Closing Reflection
Pauree 27 asks you to release the burden of spiritual performance
and sink into the simplicity of reverence.
Not fear.
Not striving.
Just the soft recognition
that you are already held.
When parts feel this,
love begins to bloom without being commanded.
Belonging becomes a felt experience, not a concept.
And the system awakens to the quiet truth:
Nothing in you is outside the Divine.
Nothing is beyond inclusion.
Nothing is beyond return.
May this pauree remind your heart, and every part within you,
that love does not need to be earned.
It only needs room to appear.
