Straight Meaning (Sikh-accurate)
Guru Nanak completes the journey through the Five Khands:
Karam Khand, the Realm of Grace.
Here, power and spiritual might prevail.
Warriors of great strength dwell here.
Here reside the perfected ones, the sages, the servants of the Divine.
This realm shapes consciousness, wisdom, and clarity.
Here, the abilities of the spiritually victorious are forged.
Sach Khand, the Realm of Truth.
Here dwells the Formless One.
The Creator creates, beholds, and blesses with grace.
Here are countless worlds, galaxies, and universes.
If one tried to speak of them, there would be no end.
In this realm, form upon form unfolds
exactly according to Divine Will.
Seeing this vision, one is left in awe.
The cosmic Sound resounds everywhere.
Nanak concludes:
To describe this fully is impossible.
The taste is too deep for words.
Sacred Commentary
Pauree 40 is the summit of Japji Sahib.
It completes the arc of the soul’s journey and reveals the final two realms.
Karam Khand, The Realm of Grace
This is not the realm of effort.
his is the realm where effort dissolves
into Divine momentum.
Here dwell:
beings of immense spiritual power,
warriors of inner strength,
those who have conquered ego, fear, and illusion.
These are not warriors of violence.
They are warriors of Self,
of truth, clarity, compassion, and fearlessness.
Guru Nanak says this realm shapes consciousness:
“There are forged awareness, wisdom, mind, and understanding.”
This is inner mastery.
The soul becomes sharp, clear, unwavering.
Grace does not simply reward.
It forms, shapes, polishes, strengthens.
Transformation becomes effortless here
because the soul has become aligned with truth.
Sach Khand, The Realm of Truth
Then Nanak guides us into the highest realm.
Here, the Formless One resides.
Not far away,
not hidden,
not judgmental,
but as the radiant center of everything.
“The One creates, watches, and blesses with grace.”
Then the vision expands:
countless universes,
countless realms of life,
countless cosmic spheres,
a creation so vast that speech fails.
And the revelation:
“Forms arise exactly according to Divine Will.”
Nothing is random.
Nothing is wasted.
Everything belongs.
Sach Khand is not a place.
It is a state of consciousness,
a luminous recognition of Oneness.
The closing lines say:
“Seeing this, one is filled with wonder.
The cosmic Sound vibrates
.Nanak: to describe this is too hard.
The taste is indescribable.”
This is the moment where language bows.
Where the journey ends.
Where the seeker dissolves into the Truth that has always been.
IFS Lens
Through the IFS lens, Pauree 40 describes the culmination of inner healing:
Karam Khand, Unburdened System, Unified in Self
Here:
Protectors have transformed into wise guardians.
Exiles have been welcomed and healed.
The whole system vibrates with clarity and courage.
This is the internal Realm of Grace.
Transformation happens not through pressure
but through inner alignment and safety.
Self-energy is no longer intermittent.
It becomes the leadership state.
Wisdom, clarity, intuition, courage,
all of these are forged as Nanak describes.
Sach Khand, Full Self-Realization
Sach Khand corresponds to the moment when:
the system recognizes its inherent wholeness,
parts are no longer afraid of dissolving into Self,
everything inside is seen as belonging,
the cosmic sound is the internal harmony of a fully integrated system.
This realm cannot be forced or engineered.
It arises naturally from love, curiosity, and compassion.
Just as Nanak says:
“To describe it is impossible
The taste is beyond words.”
Every unburdened part has felt this truth
.Self cannot be explained.
Only experienced.
Trauma-Informed Practice (Curiosity Only)
As you rest with Pauree 40, you might explore gently:
Is there a part that longs for inner strength, Karam Khand?
Is there a part afraid of letting go into grace?
What is it like to imagine wisdom and clarity being forged inside me?
Does any part glimpse the possibility of an inner state where everything belongs, Sach Khand?
What arises when I hear Nanak say that the final truth is beyond words?
Let your system respond in its own timing.
This is the practice.
Closing Reflection
Pauree 40 is the great completion
the soft landing of the soul
after the climb through every realm.
It tells you:
Grace is real.
Truth is real.
You are held in something vast and loving.
Your journey is not random.
Your parts are not mistakes.
Your longing is not an accident.
You were made for the Realm of Truth.
You were made to remember your own radiance.
You were made to dissolve into the Love that shaped you.
May this pauree settle gently over your system like a blessing.
May it honor the work you have done.
May it remind every part of you:
You are already walking in grace.
