Tarot began in the courts of Renaissance Italy nearly six hundred years ago, where families like the Visconti and Sforza of Milan commissioned gilded decks of carte da trionfi as luxuries and played them as a game, and from that unlikely beginning it grew into the most recognized symbolic deck in the world, carried forward by legendary occultists, visionary artists like Pamela Colman Smith, and the famous Egyptian legend the tradition tells about itself. This course is the doorway to all of it: the story of how a card game became a worldwide symbolic language, and the elegant system hiding inside those seventy-eight cards. It also opens the full deck for this academy: the Major Arcana, the Minor Arcana, and the Court Cards each have their own deep-dive course, and everything taught here makes those three richer.
This course teaches tarot pure to itself, with no other systems blended in. It's written in plain, emotionally relatable language anyone can follow, whether you've been reading cards for years or this is your very first step into the subject. And it's worth saying warmly what this course is and isn't: it isn't a reading service or religious instruction, and no one here will tell you your future. It's the system itself, the deck's structure, its famous designs, its reading culture, and its real history, taught so you can actually understand it. Each module offers clear teaching, real-life illustrations, and an honest telling of both the tradition's own story and its true history.
