🗝️Welcome to the Lenormand Course for Everyday People
Lenormand began life in 1799 as the Game of Hope, a parlor game designed by Johann Kaspar Hechtel of Nuremberg, and took its famous name decades later from Marie Anne Lenormand, the legendary fortune-teller of Napoleonic Paris, the tradition's celebrated namesake rather than its maker. Out of that unlikely birth came one of the most beloved decks in all of card reading: 36 small, plain pictures of everyday life that readers combine like words into sentences, all the way up to the famous Grand Tableau, where the entire deck goes on the table at once.
This course teaches Lenormand pure to itself, with no other systems blended in. Everything is written in plain, emotionally relatable language anyone can follow, whether you've read cards for years or this is your very first step. It isn't a reading service or religious instruction; it's the system itself, its symbols, meanings, and real history, taught so you can actually understand it. Each module offers clear teaching, real-life illustrations, and an honest telling of both the tradition's own story and its documented history, and every lesson ends with a simple practice you can carry into your week.
This course is self-paced, with no tests, exams, or homework. Feel free to go through it in order, or jump around to whatever interests you most.
Curious how Lenormand compares to its famous 78-card cousin? The Tarot course is waiting for you too.
