🌾Welcome to the Musonius Rufus Course for Everyday People

Gaius Musonius Rufus was a Roman knight who became one of the most respected philosophers of his age, teaching in Rome through the first century while emperors rose, fell, and banished him more than once. He was the teacher of Epictetus, and antiquity called him the Roman Socrates for a simple reason: he believed philosophy was worth nothing unless you actually lived it, tested every ordinary day in how you eat, work, endure hardship, and treat the people around you.

This is a course about Musonius himself, taught pure to his own Stoic philosophy, with nothing else blended in. It's written in plain, human language that anyone can follow, whether you've read the Stoics for years or this is the first time you've ever heard his name. It isn't a history lecture and it isn't motivational hype; it's what Musonius actually taught, laid out clearly enough that you can understand it and carry it into how you see your own life. Each module gives you real teaching, real-life examples, and an honest account of both the brilliance and the contradictions in the man.

This course is self-paced, with no tests, exams, or homework. Feel free to go through it in order, or jump around to whatever interests you most.

If this course leaves you curious about the student who carried Musonius's method to the world and became the most famous teacher in Stoicism, the Epictetus course is the natural next step.
