🍵Welcome to the Tasseography Course for Everyday People
Tasseography, the art of reading tea leaves, has two birth stories: the one the tradition tells, reaching back to the misted hills of ancient China, and the one history documents, flowering in seventeenth-century Europe after Dutch ships carried tea west, then written down at last in 1881 by a mysterious Scottish author known only as "A Highland Seer." This course honors both tellings, and it carries you through the art's most wonderful ideas: a teacup that works as a map, where the handle is home and time flows from rim to bottom, a symbol dictionary built up over centuries, the forgotten porcelain fortune-telling cups of the early 1900s, and the magnificent coffee-reading tradition of kahve falı recognized by UNESCO as world heritage.
This course teaches tasseography pure to itself, with no other systems blended in, and it's written in plain, emotionally relatable language anyone can follow, whether you've read cups for years or this is your very first step. It isn't a reading service or religious instruction, and it never tells you your future; it's the system itself, its symbols, their traditional meanings, and its real history, taught deeply so you can actually understand it and decide for yourself what it is to you. Each module offers clear teaching, real-life illustrations, and an honest telling of both the tradition's own story and the historical record.
This course is self-paced, with no tests, exams, or homework. Feel free to go through it in order, or jump around to whatever interests you most.
