🧶 Welcome to the Free Knot Magic Course for Everyday People
Take a piece of string, fold it back on itself, pass one end through the loop, and pull. Something just changed. The cord now holds a shape it will keep all night and all year without any further help from you. Witches noticed this thousands of years ago and drew a simple, powerful conclusion: if a knot can hold a shape, it can hold a promise. That single idea carried knot magic from the wind-sellers who tied gales into rope for sailors all the way to the handfasting cords of modern weddings, and it sits at the heart of this course. It is also the most accessible magic there is. The only required supply is a piece of string, and an entire working fits inside a closed hand.
This course teaches knot magic pure to itself, with no other systems or modalities blended in. It's written in plain, emotionally relatable language anyone can follow, whether you've been working with cords for years or this is the first string you've ever picked up with intention. This is not religious instruction, a spellcasting service, or a substitute for medical or mental health care. Inside you'll find clear teaching, real-life examples, and honest talk about what a knot can and cannot do. Every module ends with a simple practice so you can begin using the skill right away.
This course is self-paced click-and-learn, with no tests, quizzes, exams, or homework. Feel free to move through the modules in order or jump straight to whatever interests you most. There is no right or wrong way to take this course.

Everything IFS Academy is an independent educational platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the IFS Institute. While we strive for accuracy, errors can occur, and users are encouraged to cross-reference critical information. The courses in our Witchcraft & Folk Magic series are offered for educational and cultural purposes only, presenting traditional practices as they have been taught and handed down. They make no claim that any magical working will produce a guaranteed outcome, and they are not a substitute for medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. They do not constitute therapy, mental health treatment, clinical training, or crisis support, and they should not be used as a substitute for professional mental health care. Please never tie a cord around the neck or tightly around any part of the body, keep loose cords away from babies, small children, and pets, and never use a decorative or magical knot for climbing, towing, securing, or restraining. Any working that involves burning a cord should follow basic fire safety: a fireproof dish, a clear surface, and a flame that is never left unattended.
Crisis Support: 🚨
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, feel unsafe, feel at risk of harming yourself or someone else, or feel too overwhelmed to safely use self-directed practices, please pause this material and reach out for immediate support. Contact a licensed mental health professional, call or text 988 in the U.S. or Canada, or use your local emergency or crisis resources.
