Welcome to the Free Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Course for Everyday People

This course exists because of Albert Ellis, the famously blunt, famously funny New York psychologist who created REBT in 1955, making it the very first of the cognitive behavioral therapies, the one the entire CBT family grew out of. Ellis has been ranked in professional surveys among the most influential psychotherapists in history, and his whole approach rests on one old, powerful idea he borrowed from the Stoic philosophers: it is rarely events themselves that upset us, but the beliefs we carry about those events, and those beliefs can be found, questioned, and changed.

This course teaches pure REBT, with no other modalities blended in. It's written in plain, emotionally relatable language anyone can follow, whether you work in the field or have never set foot in a therapy room. It isn't clinical training for therapists; it's REBT you can put to use in your own life. Each module offers clear teaching, real-life examples, and the practical tools, techniques, and strategies REBT is known for, and every lesson ends with a simple practice so you can begin using the skill right away.

This course is self-paced, with no tests, exams, or homework. Feel free to go through it in order, or jump around to whatever interests you most.
