Hypnotherapy is one of the rare modalities with no single founder to name, and that's part of its fascination: it was built as a relay across two and a half centuries, from James Braid, the Scottish surgeon who coined the word "hypnotism" in 1843, through the French suggestion pioneers, to the twentieth-century giants Dave Elman and Milton Erickson, and it earned formal recognition from the British and American Medical Associations in the 1950s. Its history includes major surgery performed with trance as the only anesthesia. And underneath all of it runs one central insight: the human mind has a natural state of focused attention, one you enter on your own every day, and that state can be used deliberately to create real change.

This course teaches pure hypnotherapy, with no other modalities blended in. It's written in plain, emotionally relatable language anyone can follow, whether you work in the field or have never set foot in a therapy room. It isn't clinical training for therapists; it's hypnotherapy you can put to use in your own life. Each module offers clear teaching, real-life examples, and the practical tools, techniques, and strategies hypnotherapy is known for, and every lesson ends with a simple practice so you can begin using the skill right away.

This course is self-paced, with no tests, exams, or homework. Feel free to go through it in order, or jump around to whatever interests you most.
